Field House Chicken & Waffles

I don't quite understand the appeal of chicken and waffles as a combo; I like chicken and I like waffles, but not together.  Nevertheless, this morning (our last day in Flagstaff), I looked around for a good brunch place, and settled on Field House Chicken & Waffles.

We sat outside (a bit chilly), and dug the fresh
flowers serving as centerpieces.

bacon-and-sausage gravy)

Horsemen Lodge

This afternoon I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Master's in English. My husband was extremely supportive of our attending Commencement, so he and I, along with my parents, my father-in-law, and my husband's aunt, attended the ceremony, after which we celebrated by having an excellent dinner at Horsemen Lodge.

That was some good chicken-fried steak I had for dinner.

And the s'mores I had for dessert were pretty good, too!

Sosoba

The weather continues to be cool, overcast, and intermittently snowy and rainy this weekend. We attempted to explore downtown Flagstaff this afternoon but the weather was against us, so we wandered into Sosoba for lunch, and it turned out to be an excellent choice.

I had a banh mi spring roll (hoisin pork, ham, liver pate,
pickled veggies, miso aioli) to start with. I'll note that I
do not like banh mi sandwiches, but this was fantastic.

I also ordered The Mic Drop: udon, pork belly,  carnitas,
chicharon, ham fries, soft boiled egg, kim chi, sprouts, choi, bacon.

Red Lobster

My husband and I are in town for my graduation from Northern Arizona University (from which I'm receiving my Master's in English). My parents came out to help us celebrate, as did my father-in-law and his sister. Tonight we went out to Red Lobster.

I ordered the excellent Roasted Maine Lobster Bake:
petite Maine lobster tails,  baby gold potatoes, and corn on the cob.

I ordered a side of Langostino lobster mashed potatoes.

And for dessert: chocolate wave cake.
