Noodles & Company is a local place that I've driven by for literally years at this point, but for one reason or another have never actually remembered to try it, even though there are several items on their website that look pretty good. My husband, bless him, agreed to pick up the Thai Hot Pot and a small chicken Caesar salad for me tonight for dinner.

Thai Thai House Restaurant & Lounge
Father's Day isn't for another couple weeks, but since my husband and I won't be in town to celebrate with my dad, we took him to Thai Thai II for dinner tonight. (This was an excellent back-up choice, by the way; our original choice, Gregory's Steakhouse, had burned down.)
appetizer: Golden Rings (calamari)
appetizer: spicy Asian hot wings
appetizer: beef satay
My husband ordered the shrimp pad Thai.
I got the Holy Basil Duck (excellent!).

Krua Siam
Tonight was our last night in Akureyri, but we stayed close to our hotel, heading to Krua Siam, a Thai restaurant, which turned out to be a good choice; we were ready for something a bit different.

A Taste of Thai
Tonight's dinner out was the result of my not being in the mood to cook before heading to Mass. After batting a few ideas between us, my husband and I decided to go to San Sauce, but the line turned out to be hideously long, so we went to A Taste of Thai instead.

Thai Delight Cafe & Restaurant
For no good reason, my husband and I went out to dinner after church tonight, trying a different location of Thai Delight Cafe & Restaurant, which has a slightly larger menu of the other location we've gone to previously.
This wasn't an appetizer, but I had a hankerin' for chicken wings, so I ordered an entree's-worth to keep the hunger at bay.
My husband started out with the satay, which was goooooood.

A Taste of Thai
I got some good news earlier this week, and to celebrate, my husband took me out to dinner. (He offered to take me on the night I'd gotten the good news, but quite frankly I was a bit too tired, so we went out tonight instead. Plus we wound up having a really long, 2 1/2-hour meeting with our financial planner, so cooking dinner when I got home would have been a bit much.) My husband asked where I'd wanted to go, and I decided I'd like to go to A Taste of Thai.
We started with the appetizer sampler, which came with spring rolls, dumplings, tofu, chicken satay, and wontons.
We also both ordered the Tom Kha Gai, a light coconut-based soup with lemongrass, lime leaves, lime, galanga, mushrooms, and onions topped with cilantro. I ordered mine with chicken, while my husband ordered his with shrimp.
I also ordered the panang curry with beef. Spicy!

Pho Green Papaya
My husband and I had tickets for a Quidem, Cirque de Soleil performance, tonight. (Serendipitously, a FaceBook ad told that that they were performing in the area this weekend.) Before the evening performance, we stopped by Pho Green Papaya for dinner, which turned out to be an excellent choice; they had an extensive menu, which had a lot that looked good.
We both ordered from the dinner specials section; our dinners came with a sprout salad:
And our dinners came with some tasty chicken noodle soup:

Both dinners came with (from top left) steamed rice, shrimp rolls, and dumplings, and a choice of two items (there were 13 options); I chose the Massaman Beef (braised with coconut cream, peanut, and massaman curry, lower left) and red panang chicken curry. (My husband chose the Pad Thai Chicken and Korean BBQ beef short ribs.) Both our entrees were served in the same type of tray.

Thai Delight Cafe
The only good thing that comes from my husband going on an overnight business trip is that I don't have to cook - which is not something I mind doing, but it's nice to have a break once in awhile. I was in the mood for Indian food, but I also didn't want to drive too far, which meant I wound up getting Thai food takeout from Thai Delight Cafe. I got a couple different entrees so I could try a little of each.
I tried a little of the chicken noodle:
And then there were egg rolls!

Thai Delight Cafe & Restaurant
I have a head cold. I hate head colds. I could have diphtheria, cholera, dysentery, and the plague, and muddle my way through things, but a head cold makes me whiny. It's especially annoying not to be able to smell or taste things - or swallow, for that matter.
I'm on the mend, but after a couple days of being able to taste anything, I asked my husband if we could go out for Thai food tonight, and being the agreeable sort of fellow he is, we headed back to the Thai Delight Cafe and Restaurant.
We'd forgotten that we had the Goong Gra-Bork (fried shrimp wrapped in wonton skins) last time. Well, it had sounded familiar and looked good, so we ordered it again.
We also tried the fried tofu, which was on the bland side, but to be fair, tofu is a bit bland anyway, and my taste buds were shot, so that might not be saying that much.
The big reason I'd wanted to come back was because last time we were there, my husband had ordered the panang curry, which was amazing, and because I knew from our last visit they'd make it pretty spicy. I wanted both something I could actually taste, something I'd knew I'd like, but alas, once again I ordered it too spicy. For goodness sake, order it mild, people. I have a higher tolerance for spice than most people I know, but this was spicy. I ordered it with beef.

Thai Delight Cafe
My husband offered to take me out to lunch today, and I'm not one to pass up the offer of lunch; knowing how much I love Asian food, and Thai food especially, my husband suggested Thai Delight Cafe, so off we went.
We started out with the Goong Gra-Bork (deep-fried shrimp wrapped with wonton skins):
I'd ordered Khao Pad Gra-Phaow (fried rice with basil and chili; I ordered mine with beef).
I was told later was something made more for actual Thai people (actually, what was said was that Thai people tend to know how to eat this, which was an interesting turn of phrase).

Manassas: Siam Classic
I love Asian food - Indian, Thai, and Japanese, especially. The minimal use of dairy is one reason, since it's something I have to be careful with, but I also love the spices and flavors. After a few days' worth of heavy food, on our way back to our hotel, my husband and I stopped by Siam Classic, a Thai restaurant. (The pictures are dark, for which I apologize, but the lighting was set to low in the restaurant, and using a flash didn't help.)
We started with the chicken satay.
Then we moved on to stuffed chicken wings (large chicken wings turned inside out and stuffed with ground pork, crabmeat, egg and shiitake mushrooms).
I had the panang curry with duck.
(Panang curry is one of my favorites, and I'd never had it served with duck before.)
