Cuts Steakhouse

Still being in Atlanta, Georgia, until Sunday, my husband and I decided to have a very good dinner at Cuts Steakhouse this evening. (All this fine dining is difficult!)

I tried the goat cheese risotto fritters.
Of course my husband ordered the special bacon appetizer.
My husband ordered one of the specials, a steak with crab.
He was a very happy camper.
I had the lamb burger, which came with a side of fries.
I also ordered the pimento mac & cheese. (Because I love
mac & cheese. Apparently I'm still 12.)

Edge Steakhouse

My husband and I arrived in Park City, Utah, today, and we're staying until Monday. The hotel we're staying at has an onsite restaurant: Edge Steakhouse.

We started with the amuse-bouche, which featured salami
and goat cheese.
We also had enormous popovers. (We had these the last time
we were here, and my husband loved them so much, I had
to learn to make them at home.)
My husband tried the Wagyu Tartare: hand-cut Wagyu, egg
yolks, capers, Meyer lemon, and crostini.
We shared the table side Caesar salad.
I had the wild king salmon, which came with oyster
mushrooms, braised greens, cauliflower fritters, and choron.
And for dessert: vanilla  bean creme brûlée.

Tepanyaki Japanese Steakhouse

My husband's birthday was earlier in the week, but since we were traveling, we were unable to go out to dinner. This evening we went to Tepanyaki Japanese Steakhouse, his favorite place to go on his birthday.
My entree came with a salad, which is one of my favorites.
My husband really likes gyoza, so we always get an order.
And I rather like the Japanese egg rolls.
I ordered the Samurai Special, which came with salmon,
shrimp, and filet mignon, as well as veggies and fried rice.
We also shared two rolls. This is a tater tot roll: shrimp
tempura, hamachi and crab mill roll topped with tempura
baby scallops, crab, spicy mayo, and eel sauce.
This is the T.N.T. roll: shrimp tempura, eel,
and avocado roll topped with crab,
spicy tuna, tobiko, spicy mayo, and eel sauce.

Strega Prima Italian Steakhouse

Tomorrow my father-in-law has a milestone birthday, and since my husband and I happen to be in town for another family celebration, we took him to Strega Prima Italian Steakhouse for dinner.

I started with clam chowder, which included pancetta and
smoked haddock.
I ordered the dry-aged ribeye...
...and the macaroni and cheese.
And for dessert: dark chocolate cake.

Sizzler

Tonight was the last night of my ESL Endorsement, and to celebrate, a slew of us had dinner at Sizzler.
My salad from the salad bar was of the not-healthy variety.
I had a classic Sizzler steak, which came with mushrooms,
as well as fries.

Seared

Tonight is my last night in Sonoma County, California, so my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew took me out to Seared for dinner.

We shared some calamari.
We also shared some duck confit potatoes.
My bacon cheeseburger was really fantastic; I suspect the cow
who gave her life had gotten spa treatments and massages.

The Quarry Steakhouse & Brew Pub

We're only spending two nights here in Vernal, Utah, with tonight being our last night here, so we chose to have dinner at The Quarry Steakhouse & Brew Pub.

I started with a bowl of clam chowder.
My husband started with some mozzarella sticks.
I had a bon cheeseburger with some pretty good fries.

Vernal Brewing Company

My husband and I are taking a weekend trip to eastern Utah, about three hours east of where we live (in the Salt Lake City area). We arrived in late afternoon, and decided to try the Vernal Brewing Company for dinner.

appetizer: beer cheese soup
appetizer: fried fingerlings
We both had a steak sandwich with a very good salad.
And I had the stout cheesecake.

Sizzler

Today is the first day of a two-day workshop on respecting ethnic and cultural heritage - a requirement for the ESL teaching endorsement in which I'm involved. A few of us walked the half mile to Sizzler for lunch.

My add-on salad option was not very healthy but it was
rather delicious.
I also ordered the fish and chips, which was also not healthy,
but also rather delicious.

Edge Steakhouse

Tomorrow is my father's 75th birthday, and because my parents came to visit this weekend, my husband and I took them to Edge Steakhouse in Park City, Utah.

We each started with an amuse-boucher:
a scallop with mint sauce.
We were also given popovers, served warm and with butter.

my appetizer: two ounces of Wagyu cap of ribeye, truffled
brioche toast, poached quail egg, and hollandaise sauce
one of the sides: black and white truffle mac & cheese
(black truffles, Utah Irish cheddar, Parmesan cheese, Gruyere
cheese sauce, ditalini pasta served over demi-glace)
one of the sides: mushroom gratin (seared seasonal mushrooms,
Boursin cheese)
one of the sides: truffle parmesan pommes frites
(julienne cut Idaho potatoes, Parmesan cheese, truffle oil,
dill weed, sun-dried tomato,  pepper aioli)

I ordered double cut bacon as an accompaniment.
We each of us ordered the 8-ounce ribeye cap of Wagyu beef.

New Yorker

Today was my husband's birthday. We had dinner at the New Yorker, a steakhouse we'd never been to before but which I saw had good reviews. We were not disappointed!

We started with crispy fried calamari with Asian slaw and
sweet chili sauce.
My classic Caesar salad came with anchovies.
One does not go to a steakhouse and not order steak. I had
the char-grilled ribeye.
I also ordered a side of fried Brussel sprouts, but I didn't
eat them: I was too full.

Horsemen Lodge

This afternoon I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Master's in English. My husband was extremely supportive of our attending Commencement, so he and I, along with my parents, my father-in-law, and my husband's aunt, attended the ceremony, after which we celebrated by having an excellent dinner at Horsemen Lodge.

That was some good chicken-fried steak I had for dinner.
And the s'mores I had for dessert were pretty good, too!

Hoof & Vine

Yesterday I officinally finished my last class needed for my Master's degree. It was a hectic, often stressful ten weeks, especially given that I was also teaching at two different schools. To celebrate, my husband and I went to Hoof & Vine.

serrano, pomegranate)
