The Berkshire Restaurant

My husband and I are stopping off in Denver on our way to Iceland for our honeymoon; since there's a direct flight from Denver, we arrived in Denver a day early and will head back to the airport tomorrow in order to (hopefully) catch a flight to Reykjavik. (We're flying standby and gave ourselves an extra day of travel to make sure we'd get to Denver in time for tomorrow's flight.)

Because of its entertainingly bacon-centric menu and because it was less than half a mile from our hotel, we headed toThe Berkshire Restaurant for dinner.

My husband ordered, as an appetizer, the Heritage Breed
Bacon Flight, which included bacon four ways:
garlic, cinnamon-chipotle, curried, and balsamic.

I ordered the firecracker shrimp for an appetizer:
stuffed with sriracha cream cheese, wrapped in bacon,
served on mushrooms and wilted spinach with
honeysuckle dipping sauce.

My husband's entree: Homer Simpson's Genius Burger,
with bacon, beer battered cheddar, and the optional
fried egg.

My entree: the Denver Cheese Steak, shaved ribeye
seasoned with samball pepper, queso blank cheese sauce,
sauteed onions, peppers, and mushrooms.

My husband's dessert: an apple cider doughnut, white
chocolate, balsamic glaze, crispy bacon, and
strawberry sorbet.

My dessert: the frozen chocolate mint torte, a chocolate
genoise layered with mint mousse and served with warm
chocolate ganache.
